The experience design process for Pristem centered on in-depth user research with radiography professionals across the globe. We conducted interviews with radiographers, radiologists, and support staff in diverse settings - from hospitals to remote clinics - with some sessions even held via WhatsApp due to limited connectivity, including with a radiographer in rural Mali. The research aimed to understand their daily workflows, pain points, and priorities, highlighting real opportunities to improve usability in challenging environments.
Usability testing played a key role in shaping both the interface and the broader device experience. Alongside testing the digital interface, we participated in human factors evaluations of the x-ray machine in simulated environments with real users. These sessions uncovered critical usability issues, ranging from navigation to physical interaction, that informed multiple rounds of design improvements and refinements.
